Responsibility For Our Life

The "Daily Quote" for today from Abraham Hicks contains one of the secrets to be happy.

"Tell everyone you know: "My happiness depends on me, so you're off the hook." And then demonstrate it. Be happy, no matter what they're doing. Practice feeling good, no matter what. And before you know it, you will not give anyone else responsibility for the way you feel—and then, you'll love them all. Because the only reason you don't love them, is because you're using them as your excuse to not feel good."

How many times we have felt unhappy due to sayings or actions of other people? And we really believe that if that other person made things in a different way, we would be happy. That happiness, anyway, would be an extremely dependent happiness and therefore it wouldn't belong to us. It would be the happiness of that other person, not ours. It would be the happiness of that who keeps it alive.

If we take responsibility for our own happiness, then it does belong to us. If we are the ones who feel happy, who feel good.

In which way do you believe we can feel good by ourselves, no matter what the others do?

I believe that the only way is to constantly search to feel good; that each thought we have is positive; that we choose what to pay attention to and that we, guided by our emotions, discard the things that are not useful and we take advantage of the things that make our heart sing of joy.

Some of the things that always make me happy are some books, music, films, friends, blogs, memories, projects and hugs. Also to meditate, to help others, to play the drums, to clean my flat, to walk by the rambla, to go out of the city, to grow and develop as a human being.

My happiness always depended on myself. The detail is that I was not conscious of it and I used a lot of people as an excuse for not feeling good, for a long time.

It's with pleasure and a feeling of discovery that I take full responsibility of my happiness from today on.
